DESCRIPTION:Intermediate and Advanced Percussion Camp is July 22-26 from 12:30-3:30pm. \nDelve deeper into all things percussion this week! There are hundreds of percussion instruments\, but we will be focusing on the big ones like drum set\, snare drum\, xylophone\, marimba\, and auxiliary percussion (shakers\, tambourines\, triangle\, hand drums\, rain sticks\, etc.) \nAlong with all of the instruments\, students will learn more advanced techniques along with more complex rhythms and patterns. DESCRIPTION:CMI’s Summer Rock Sessions are like band camp on steroids!  The sessions last for one week and offer musicians of all ages a chance to play in a band and perform live on-stage.  Each musician gets placed with a band carefully selected by our professional musician/instructors to match his/her experience and instrument.  Then\, for two hours each day (10-12:00 or 12:00-2pm M-F)\, our staff of professionals works with each ensemble in a fully equipped professional music studio.  After perfecting their show(s)\, the bands take to the stage and perform live at a popular local venue – in a real club-setting (Soiled Dove Underground) in front of a live audience (5pm Sunday afternoon). \nJune 17-21\, 2024 from 10:00 – 12:00  OR  12:00 – 2:00 at our CMI Studios in Centennial; the concert will be held July 23rd at 5pm at the Soiled Dove Underground! \n*Bands are formed based upon experience and age as best as can be managed with those participating.  If your family has a preference for 10-12:00 or 12:00-2:00 for band practice time\, please do let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.  Adult bands practice times will be determined by band members and their coach.  Occasionally\, band members are asked to help supplement other bands and will participate from 10:00-2:00 M-F.  No additional fees are collected for this extra experience!

SUMMARY:Instrument Discovery Camp (Ages 6-11)
DESCRIPTION:Instrument Discovery Camp is June 17-21 from 9am to 3pm. \nColorado Music Institute offers music lessons on nearly every instrument and in one week\, campers will be able to have a hands-on experience with nearly every instrument! This camp is sure to be a FUN experience for all\, as many campers return for multiple camp weeks and some year after year! We will split time between indoors and outdoors\, so be sure to bring sunscreen! Bring a lunch and a snack each day. \nEach day will feature a new group of instrument–Percussion\, Piano\, Strings of all types\, Brass\, Woodwinds. By the end of the week\, your camper will be sure to find their favorite instrument! These camps are taught by professional music instructors.

DESCRIPTION:Beginner Percussion Camp for Teens is June 10-14 from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. \nLearn all things percussion this week! There are hundreds of percussion instruments\, but we will be focusing on the big ones like drum set\, snare drum\, xylophone\, marimba\, and auxiliary percussion. \nAlong with all of the instruments\, there are also different techniques for each individual instrument. The students will learn different techniques\, grips\, music theory\, and different genres of music. If staying for a full day of camp\, bring a sack lunch.

DESCRIPTION:“Folk Tails” Theater Camp Camp is June 10-14 from 9am to 3pm. \nAt Colorado Music Institute’s Theater Camp\, your student will begin their theater career with a deep dive into a full play production! Throughout the week your actor will audition and be cast into the play Folk Tails\, prepping for show day on Friday\, June 14th at 2pm! In between rehearsals your actor will learn about everything theater: monologues\, book prep\, auditions\, all the way to costume and set making! This camp will be run off high energy\, play\, and fun; Monday-Thursday 9am-3pm and Friday 9am-2pm (performance starts at 2pm and will be finished by 3pm) for our full production! We look forward to working with your future actors at Colorado Music Institute! \nMonkeys and turtles and coyotes — oh\, my!\nIntroduce your young audiences to tales from around the world with this creative collection of six different animal stories.  There’s something for everyone in these delightful stories\, told by six storytellers who narrate each tale while other actors don simple animal costumes onstage to act out the short scenes.\nThis whimsical children’s play can be performed by an ensemble of as few as six savvy actors\, or by young kids for kids\, with as many as 39 small roles all under 20 lines\, so everyone can be included.  Representational sets and costumes encourage audiences to use their imaginations\, and the option to present as few as three stories allows for a shorter running time.  Easy to tour and flexible in both the cast size and the running time\, this collection of short fables is ideal for any theatre group performing for young audiences.  They will be all ears with these timeless “tails!

We look forward to working with your future actors at Colorado Music Institute! \nBig Bad provides actors and audiences of any age with a smart and wickedly funny play that lets the audience determine the outcome of the play!  The most notorious criminal in the fairy-tale world\, Big Bad Wolf\, is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by the countless quirky characters he has wronged.  Now\, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest — the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother — will clash (on live Court TV\, no less\, with Sydney Grimm as commentator!)  in a trial that will be remembered forever after.  As Little Red Riding Hood\, her Grandmother\, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf testify\, the wolf seems deserving of all that’s coming.  But\, even though the disreputable Evil Stepmother couldn’t be less interested in pro-bono work on such an obviously futile defense\, Mr. Wolf makes a good case for himself.  Was he born a criminal\, or made one?  Perhaps he does deserve compassion instead of condemnation?  What will the verdict be?  Only the jury — your audience — can decide\, when the doddering old Judge invites them to determine the outcome of the trial…  and the play!
