LEAH T

Leah Tafoya is a pianist and soprano born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She started her singing career as an opera apprentice with Performance Santa Fe in 2015. In her sophomore year of high school, she premiered in her first lead role as Julianita in Shoes for the Santo Niño, a local children’s opera presented by the Santa Fe Opera. From there, she became an apprentice with the Santa Fe Symphony Chorus and was selected three times for the NMMEA’s All-State Convention as a high schooler. She recently graduated from the University of Denver with a Vocal Performance major and a leadership studies minor. Her recent engagements include playing Peaseblossom in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night Dream with the Lamont Opera Theatre as well as performing in the chorus for Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman with Opera Colorado. In the spring of 2025, she was a semifinalist in the Naftgzer Young Artists’ competition in Wichita Kansas, and recently received the Dorthe Garrett Carillo Award for Outstanding Senior Female Vocalist from the Lamont School of Music. When Leah is not singing or performing she enjoys reading and going on hikes. She will be starting her Performance Certificate in Vocal Performance at the Lamont School of Music in the fall of 2025 in the studio of Heidi Melton.
