Music Production/Music Technology Classes

Our music productions classes will guide students into the vast world of music producing, mixing, DJing, and the use of DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) such as, Ableton, Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, FL Studio, and other facets of music technology.  These classes are catered to the needs/interest of the students, as music production/music technology is a far-reaching avenue of study.

These lessons would be great for someone looking to get their feet wet using a DAW to record, mix, produce music, DJ, produce audio for film, or incorporate the use of Ableton Live into a live music performance.

Music Production

  • Using a DAW to produce, record, and mix music. We have Ableton and Pro Tools on site, but students are free to use their own choice of DAW.

Other industry standard DAWs include  Logic, Cubase, FL Studio, Virtual DJ, Reason, Audacity, StudioOne, and Nuendo.

  • How to create a track from start to finish
  • How to finalize a track for mastering
  • Basic Music Theory to assist with track composition

Audio Engineering/Mixing

  • Capturing a good source recording
  • How to record a full band
  • Microphone Techniques

DJ/Mixing/Live Performance

  • Using Ableton Live in a live performance setting
  • Using MIDI Controllers
  • Using Ableton/Mixing Controllers such as Push, Push2, Apc40, Apc40 mkII, Apc20, Launchpad, Akai MPC/MPK
  • Live mixing
  • Mashups
  • Sampling
  • Copyright law

Suggested Lesson Materials

  • A Laptop with a DAW installed
