Ages: 8+  Adults welcome!  Bands will be grouped by age and skill as best as possible.

Cost: $599 if paid in one payment.  $660 if paid in 3 equal payments via autopay.

We ask that each band member commit to the full 3 months and refunds will not be issued.

Summer Session II:  CMI’s Summer Rock Sessions are like band camp on steroids!  The sessions last for one week and offer musicians of all ages a chance to play in a band and perform live on-stage.  Each musician gets placed with a band carefully selected by our professional musician/instructors to match his/her experience and instrument.  Then, for two hours each day (10-12:00 or 12:00-2pm M-F), our staff of professionals works with each ensemble in a fully equipped professional music studio.  After perfecting their show(s), the bands take to the stage and perform live at a popular local venue – in a real club-setting (Soiled Dove Underground) in front of a live audience (5pm Sunday afternoon).

June 17-21, 2023 from 10:00 – 12:00  or  12:00 – 2:00 at our CMI Studios in Centennial; the concert will be held June 23rd at 5pm at Rockstar Music Hall in Centennial!

*Bands are formed based upon experience and age as best as can be managed with those participating.  If your family has a preference for 10-12:00 or 12:00-2:00 for band practice time, please do let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.  Adult bands practice times will be determined by band members and their coach.  Occasionally, band members are asked to help supplement other bands and will participate from 10:00-2:00 M-F.  No additional fees are collected for this extra experience!

Fall Session III: 3-month program from September  through November, with a concert date and venue TBD!  Bands will practice at CMI on Friday or Sunday evenings for 90-minutes and adult bands will determine evening practice days/times that work best for the group.  Please indicate which day works best for you on the registration form.

Ages: 8+  Adults welcome!  Bands will be grouped by age and skill as best as possible.

Cost: $599 if paid in one payment.  $660 if paid in 3 equal payments via autopay.

The Experience

During each session, each band practices a set of songs to perform together, usually in a popular music style such as rock, pop, blues, country, funk, or reggae.

Note:  It does not have to be only “rock” songs – we are “rocking” just to have a good time!

Some highlights of each session are:

  • “Ready-made” band group to join
  • Work closely with professional musician-instructors in an intimate setting with your band.
  • Build self-confidence and develop your musicianship and performance skills.
  • Meet like-minded musicians interested in starting a band and playing music.
  • Learn to read charts, play with dynamics, improve your soloing, and rehearse more effectively.
  • Receive a FREE professional recorded download of your performance.
  • Get the real experience of playing in a band!
  • Learn first-hand what it’s really like to be in a live, on-stage gig!

We place students in ensembles based on ability so students improve as musicians.  They can always find new challenges and new and interesting people to play with.

Performance

At the end of the sessions, it’s time to hit the stage!  Each session concludes with a concert at a popular local venue featuring the CMI bands in the session – the number of bands/gigs depends on the number of musicians who sign up for the Rock Session.  The final performance promises a great time, a wonderful experience and a chance to show off for family and friends!

Pre-Requisites:

Students may be asked to audition to confirm the skill level for appropriate band placement.  Call to discuss options if you are interested but are not a current CMI student.

Mandatory advance preparation “homework” will be assigned (start learning songs prior to the beginning of workshops).
