Project Description

BEN C

Ben is a professional trumpet player, music teacher, and hospitality provider. Raised in San Antonio, Texas, Ben enjoys exploring many musical genres and has performed in symphony orchestras, jazz bands, mariachis, musical theater, brass bands, and various small groups. Ben uses these diverse experiences to provide mentorship which helps students develop both their sense of self and their music-making.

As an educator, Ben’s mission is to help students develop confidence, self-reliance, thoughtful self-expression, and a desire for lifelong learning. He prioritizes the student’s relationship with music, helping them to express emotions, connect with others, and seek personal growth through the art.

Ben has many years of training in western classical music, holding a Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Music in trumpet performance from the University of Colorado Boulder. He regularly performs with the Longmont Symphony and has also shared the stage with the Denver Philharmonic, the Colorado Brass, the South Texas Symphonic Orchestra, and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra in Indiana. Ben’s primary teachers include Justin Bartels, Ryan Gardner, and Joseph Cooper. He has also received masterclass coaching from Chris Martin of the New York Philharmonic, Michael Sachs of the Cleveland Orchestra, and famed soloist Tine Thing Helseth.

Aside from music, Ben loves psychology and cooking. When he isn’t playing music or spending time with friends, you can find him with his nose in a book, or trying his hand at a new recipe.
