Project Description

CULLEY L

Culley is a versatile multi-instrumentalist based in Denver with a wealth of experience in various genres. He has played clarinet in school concert bands, low brass and saxophone in marching bands, and studies classical and rock piano. He recently played keyboard in The Candlelight’s highly acclaimed production of Cats the Musical in 2023. This experience reflected his professionalism and versatility within a larger ensemble.

Culley earned his bachelor’s degree in music theory at the University of South Carolina, where he studied clarinet and piano. During his studies, he discovered the importance of eliminating tension while playing to prevent musical injuries. With this approach, Culley recognizes posture, form, and technique as vital ingredients in nurturing a healthy and sustainable musical journey.

Culley’s teaching philosophy stems from the idea that playing music should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. He understands that a stressful environment hinders the learning process and strives to create a relaxed, positive atmosphere in his lessons. Culley fosters engagement in his students by focusing on the music they enjoy. Learning music is a lifelong journey, and we should take the time to appreciate each step along the road of musical development.

With a wealth of experience and expertise in various instruments and genres, and a deep understanding of the importance of physical well-being while playing, Culley’s teaching philosophy prioritizes fun, engagement, and the journey of musical growth.
