JULIA D

Julia is a lyric coloratura soprano with 15 years of performance experience. She has competed and placed in several vocal competitions including 1st and 3rd place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition and a semifinalist in the Orpheus Vocal competition. Julia has performed roles in several operas including Edith in “The Pirates of Penzance”, Lucia in “Gasparone”, Angelica in Puccini’s “Suor Angelica”, Papagena and the second spirit in “Die Zauberflöte”, Frasquita in “Carmen”, and Despina in “The Three Little Pigs”. She is also an accomplished concert soloist performing works such as Haydn’s “The Creation” as Eve with the Nashville Symphony and Faure’s requiem with the Lipscomb Orchestra.

Julia has studied under teachers and directors such as vocal pedagogue Dr. Sharon Mabry, professional German opera singer Stephan Boving, director and pianist Stefan Ruetter, Manhattan School of Music’s collaborative pianist Warren Jones, Nashville Symphony Chorus director Tucker Biddlecombe, and opera directors Joshua May and Paul Houghtaling. Julia has sung with Nashville Opera, Nashville Symphony Chorus, Franklin Light Opera, and Music on Site. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from Belmont University in Nashville, TN and a Master of Music degree from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. Julia has taught private voice at Lipscomb University, Cumberland University, Tennessee State University, Austin Peay State University, and Melody Music Inc. During her career as a music educator Julia has taught several university level courses including commercial music ensembles, vocal pedagogy, and music appreciation.
