Project Description

KEELAN M

Keelan is a lifelong musician and Colorado native. Having been immersed in music his entire life, he sees music as a fulfillment of his life purpose rather than merely a job/career. He has been playing drums for over 18 years and has been playing piano and writing/recording his own songs for 7 years. Keelan has been a full time member of 7 bands, recorded over 120 songs on drums for various artists around the world, and played gigs around Colorado at venues of different sizes. Songwriting is another one of his biggest passions, and his solo recording project “Openness” has garnered over a million streams on Spotify.

As an educator, Keelan aims to pave the way for students to be able to express themselves creatively and to be able to harness the power of music to embellish all aspects of their lives. Keelan holds a bachelor’s degree in Drum Kit Performance from the University of Colorado Denver. His students can expect a unique experience tailored to them and their own musical direction, while also receiving the tools to be a well rounded musician. A fun, friendly, easygoing yet impactful atmosphere is what his teaching philosophy is built upon. A fun, friendly, easygoing yet impactful atmosphere is what his teaching philosophy is built upon. Keelan is an alum of Colorado Music Institute, having attended from 2008-2013! The musical wisdom of Keelan’s own mentors and over a decade of private drum lessons as a student of renowned musicians will be vicariously passed down to his students through his teaching.

There is a Japanese concept called “ikigai,” which is the intersection of what you love, what you’re good at, what you can be paid for, and what the world needs. For Keelan, music is his ikigai.
