Project Description

MARY W

Mary began studying the piano at the age of 5. Her parents enrolled her into group piano lessons, and she instantly fell in love with the instrument. She grew up in Arvada, Colorado where she participated in her school’s choir and band programs, piano sonatina competitions, and numerous recitals. In high school, Mary began accompanying her school’s choir as well as her church congregation.

She is currently earning her bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance at Metropolitan State University of Denver. In college, she has collaborated with fellow musicians, excelled in music theory, and developed a love for music history. Mary began teaching beginner to intermediate piano lessons for all ages in 2019. She loves sharing her passion for music with her students and helping them discover their unique musicality hidden within themselves.

Mary teaches every genre of music, from hymns to jazz. In each of her individual and group lessons, she incorporates music theory, ear training, piano technique, music history, and of course, no lesson is complete without a music game to wrap it all up! Her aspiration is to share the joy, self-discovery, and adventure of music learning.

Outside of teaching, Mary loves to ski and hike in the mountains. She also enjoys playing volleyball, cooking for her family, making specialty coffee drinks, and playing card games.
