Hi, my name is Patrick, and I’m eager to take on more Piano, Voice, Guitar/Bass, and DJing students!
My musical journey began taking piano at 5 years old. I was fascinated by music from a very young age and was accepted to Denver School of the Arts after a rigorous audition process in Classical and Jazz Piano Performance. Some highlights from high school include performing at KUVO radio, the Botanic Gardens, and the Hilton Hotel Denver with the Jazz band. I also went to Russia with the school orchestra where we performed in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novgorod (home of Rachmaninoff). Due to the competitive nature of students at DSA, I am very experienced in both classical/jazz competitions and would love to take on any students with similar ambition.
Picking up acoustic guitar became a necessity to me as it was difficult to find pianos in dorms/apartments when I attended Colorado State University. Thanks to my piano expertise I was able to teach myself guitar and I always suggest people learn piano as their first instrument because of this. I have now been playing well over 10 years, and I’m specifically good at understanding complex rhythms from influences like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
I was introduced to singing through theater in middle school and it was always my fun musical side project. While not the best actor, I earned roles through my singing ability such as (Tom Sawyer in Huck Finn, Fredrick in Sound of Music, John/Judas in Godspell. As my voice developed from puberty I struggled with singing until I took private opera lessons in college
for an easy A. With help from an experienced teacher, I really developed my singing to a professional level. My teaching technique is very classically focused, while still being in tune with popular styles of today.
DJing is my newest pursuit where I have found success. I won an Open Deck Night competition at Temple Denver in June of 2023 earning me VIP access and a set on the big stage. Hip hop and 80s Music are my specialties! Mixing music takes more ability than you think. Good DJ’s have a next-level understanding of musical form and how to mix various verses, choruses, intros, etc. to create a cohesive listening experience.
I’m excited and ready to teach everything I’ve learned over the years to eager students!
