Project Description

SAM S

Sam is a Violist from Castle Rock, currently completing his International Baccalaureate diploma in Music Theory, Physics, and Mathematics. When he isn’t studying for these classes, he is working on his research paper about folk influence in Vaughan William’s Symphony No. 1.

Sam thoroughly enjoys playing the viola, and takes whatever chance he gets to play with others. Recently he started a quartet with friends to perform Vaughan Williams and Shostakovich pieces. He currently serves as the principal violist of both his school’s orchestra and the Denver Young Artist Conservatory Orchestra, and performed in the Boettcher concert hall with the Continental League orchestra last year.

As an educator, Sam has always been passionate about teaching. Before Colorado Music Institute, Sam taught Mathematics and Computer Science to kids through various children’s education organizations. Through these experiences he found this passion and learned how to become a better teacher.
