TONY A
Tony has over 25 years of experience in teaching guitar and performing. Inspired by classic rock guitarists, Tony signed up at a local music store for guitar lessons at age 13 and has been playing ever since. He teaches guitar lessons for both acoustic and electric guitar for beginners to advanced players. Styles include rock, pop, jazz, blues and R&B, funk, improvisation, music theory, and songwriting.
Tony has performed all types of music. He started his professional career at age 16 playing in clubs and showcases with everything from Top 40 and R&B bands to award-winning jazz big bands and combos. He received an “Outstanding Instrumentalist” award for his work from ARC Vocal Jazz Ensemble and ARC Jazz Combos at the Reno Jazz Festival. He has also shared the stage with greats such as trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson, saxophonist Richie Cole, the Tuck & Patti Duo, guitarist Joe Pass and many others. Tony has worked with many bands and artists including R&B Producer/Songwriter Brian Alexander Morgan, Richard Kermone, and funk drum legend Mike Clark. Over the years he has played on many studio and demo sessions. Tony has also studied music with guitarist Randy Vincent, Bruce Foreman, Tuck Andress, Joe Gilman, and Jazz great, Joe Pass. He’s also studied Sound Engineering and Recording and worked with many national acts as a soundman at the California State Fair and Fox Theatre. Tony is currently working as a freelance musician and guitar instructor.
