Colorado Music Institute is pleased to announce that it has been nominated for the 2022 National Music School of the Year! This nomination comes from the Music Academy Success System, a national trade association for music academies from all over North America.  With over 400 schools competing for the nomination, this award is a recognition of the school’s significant contributions to the industry.

The school’s director, Wendy Cottingham, sees the award as a unique opportunity, “To be a finalist again this year is a unique and extraordinary distinction after we were nominated earlier in 2019.  To have survived the pandemic as a small business was such a feat, as many closed their doors.  We are so grateful to our community and clients for supporting us during this difficult time.  To then be nominated for this award again seems like a dream come true.  Even if we don’t win, to be one of 8 schools chosen nationally, makes us feel so proud! It would be so sweet to bring this win home to our clients and to Colorado!”  The school will attend a national trade conference in Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee on April 5th, where they will compete with the other 7 schools for the big award.

Music is all about JOY! Colorado Music Institute’s mission is that music should be all about joy.  They aim to be Colorado’s most welcoming, fun, and professional music school.  They customize music lessons to each student’s goals.  If the students wish to take lessons for band, church, college, professionally or just to have fun, they tailor their lessons to their students’ needs.  Wendy states, “We have such a diverse student population and it’s such a joy to walk the halls and mingle with students and teachers from all over the world!  At a time where the world has seemed to be in a state of chaos, we have found a bubble of joy within our walls.  We are thankful and blessed to have this place of joy and solitude to spend our days.  We hear time and again from our students how their lessons have been a source of joy.  Whether their lessons have been in our studios or via Zoom, they have provided a positive activity and connection for both students and teachers.”

Their students ages currently range from 18 months in their Music FunTime classes all the way to 89 years old.  Music truly is for any age!  CMI is accepting new students at any time of year and offer lessons on a month-to-month basis. They boast to have teachers that have been with CMI for over 20 years and students that have been with the same teacher for 14 years!  To be able to provide that level of continuity for both teachers and students is rare.

Colorado Music Institute is proud to be able to provide so many music education alternatives in the Denver region. They offer private lessons for piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, drums, trumpet, trombone, French horn, saxophone, flute, clarinet, cello, violin, viola, mixing and audio tech, and even offer lessons and services for their recording studio!  The institute will soon offer a full line of art lessons and reopen group lessons again after a hiatus due the pandemic. Lessons are available seven days a week!

We wish the Colorado Music Institute success at their competition next week at Graceland!
